Silva Navigation School launches

Open for Business

The Silva Navigation School is open for business!

Silva Ltd UK are proud to announce the launch of the first national Navigation School. The Silva Navigation School is based in the heart of the Peak District and is aimed at outdoor enthusiasts who want to learn or improve their navigation skills.

Murray Macintyre from Silva Ltd UK said “We’re delighted to be opening the Silva Navigation School.  The Silva name is synonymous with compass navigation and outdoor users have been buying our compasses for years. By launching the school we’re giving something back to the outdoor community – giving them somewhere where they can hone their skills to ensure they enjoy their sport in the greatest safety.”

The school is run by navigation expert Pete Hawkins, who has been teaching practical navigation skills for the past 25 years.  He is also the author of three successful navigation books. “I have been working with Silva for the past five years and the launch of the Silva Navigation School is a great opportunity to develop that relationship.  The courses we’ll be running at the school are based on the syllabus of the National Navigation Award Scheme. Whether you’re a beginner who knows nothing about navigation or a regular map and compass user who wants to brush up on the skills and get rid of some bad habits, then these courses are for you.”

The Silva Navigation School is based in the Peak District village of Tideswell, handy for the easier walking of the White Peak and the more challenging Dark Peak.  It operates throughout the year.
